Nasella is also known as needlegrass, named so because of its long awns.   It is a cool season clumping grass, with mounded form, and fine texture.

Nasella tenuissima (Mexican feather grass)     green, thin leaves, 2' tall     flowers become light straw colour with awns 3" long, 2' tall     zone 6     the leaves and stems are very responsive to breezes, showing its gracefullness     prefers full sun, very drought tolerant, hates having wet feet
