Spartina is also known as cordgrass.  As warm season runners, they are used for soil stabilization in marshy conditions.  The one we grow is adapted to drier soil conditions, which also helps to keep rampant growth in check.

Spartina pectinata (prairie cordgrass)    glossy deep green leaves with yellow edges, upright to 6'     flowers are tan, to 7' tall, can bend the stalks over with the weight of the developing seeds     zone 3     likes full sun, with regular moisture, but is drought tolerant once established
